Gloxinienwinden

The Gloxinienwinden (Asarina) include 16 species of heavily creeping or twining shrubs of the genus. They are native to Mexico, the Southwest U.S. and southern Europe. The foliage is triangular-, gezähn, downy and hairy with flowers creeping stems.

The flowers are attractive trumpet shape with broad green bracts and pale on the throat spotted corollas in various sizes, reminiscent of snapdragons, and can be white, yellow, pink, purple and shades to be in between.

Cultivars

They are drawn as annuals in cold climates, but are hardy in warm climates. They need a warm sheltered spot in cold climates or can be held in the greenhouse. They grow normally fertile well drained garden soil and must be watered in the summer months.

They are good for the fouling of the walls and benches suitable. You need a winter pruning, because they bloom better on new shoots.

New cultivars of the plant in North America and Europe are regularly brought to market. The multiplication can be done by sowing and cuttings.
